£ód¼ is famous as the film centre of Poland. The city gained its fame thanks to the famous Film School, i.e. The Leon Schiller Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in £ód¼, with graduates as famous as Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański, Krzysztof Zanussi, Krzysztof Kie¶lowski, Kazimierz Kutz. The School is also the organizer of the International Festival of Film Schools Mediaschool, offering young film makers an opportunity to present their talents.

£ód¼ is also famous in the world due to the
International Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage, taking place every year since 1993. Since its start, the festival has been enthusiastically accepted in the world of film. Every year numerous cameramen participate in competition for the main prize - The Golden Frog, attracting many famous creators in the Polish and world film industries as well as numerous film lovers, to £ód¼.

The
Piotrkowska Street is the showpiece of £ód¼. The Star Avenue gives a film touch to the most famous street in the city. Its idea was conceived by Jan Machulski. The chapter of the Star Avenue, associated with the Film School and Museum of Cinematography, grants this unique distinction. Andrzej Seweryn was the first to receive the star, after playing one of the leading roles in the Promised Land directed by Andrzej Wajda. Many actors, like e.g. Daniel Olbrychski, Zbigniew Cybulski, Cezary Pazura, Wojciech Pszoniak, Andrzej Wajda, Beata Tyszkiewicz, Krystyna Janda, have their stars in the Avenue.

The inquisitive film lovers should study the history of Polish cinematography in the Museum of Cinematography, the only one in Poland, as well as pay a visit to
Opus Film - one of the independent companies dealing with film and television production, leader on the Polish market.
