Łódź offers numerous opportunities for active recreation.

Those who like to swim, have swimming pools at their disposal, both indoor ( Anilana, Wodny Raj,) and outdoor ( Olimpia, Anilana, Włókniarzy) ones as well as beaches at the Municipal Sport and Recreation Centres like Arturówek, Stawy Jana, Młynek, Stawy Stefańskiego. In winter you may use skating rinks ( Hall B of the Municipal Sport and Recereation Centre, Retkinia) and in summer you may play tennis on tennis courts ( run by AZS, Łódzki Klub Sportowy, Miejski Klub Tenisowy, MOSiR Arturówek, Stacja Nowa Gdynia). Jogging fans will find excellent conditions for jogging in 31 parks and in the municipal forest called Las Łagiewnicki. And many clubs (like Sportera, Asterix, Rytm, Vera Sport, Stacja Nowa Gdynia, Laguna Impuls and many others) offer fitness centres and gyms.

You will also find numerous billiard clubs, skating parks, climbing walls, bowling alleys, golf courses, martial arts schools, flying clubs, dance schools, shooting ranges.

Since 1999, every year Łódź hosts Explorers Festival - the Festival of Mountains, Extreme Sports and Nature, with presentations, meetings, exhibitions, workshops, sport competitions and shows organized during the event.
